- Therion - Lemuria and Sirius B - Therion's work on these albums is top-notch. Beautifully rich, textured music. If you have any interest at all in the fusion of classical musical styles with other forms, this is a must. There are no songs less than stunning or less than unique.
- Bolt Thrower - Honour Valour Pride - Bolt Thrower is a band one must take time to get to know, but the pay-off is eminently worth it. Solid music with a subtlety all its own. Beautiful poetry about horrible things.
- Agiel - Dark Pantheons Again Shall Reign - Brutal death metal with keyboards. Some of the most innovative music of its type that I've heard in years.
- Woods of Ypres - The Pursuit of the Sun and the Allure of the Earth - Fantastic, melancholy doom-black metal with surprising lightness at times. Like Agalloch with a harsh list to black metal.
- Suidakra - Signs For the Fallen - Suidakra have a masterful sense of rhythm and exploit it to the fullest here. Celtic-toned folk metal with beautiful melodies and remarkable forward drive.
